Fortunately we have church at 11:00 and I plan to leave at 10:30 which gives us 20 minutes to get to church and 10 min. of what ever 'emergencies' creep up. David goes to mtgs on Sunday mornings so I get the kids ready alone. So I usually get frustrated getting kids dressed and a snack before heading out the door to church.... yes I end up yelling at them which doesn't make my day any better.

Today on the way to church I was asked if I could swing by someone's house and they could follow me. Sure! So this morning when I stop they tell me about their Friday night and why they aren't coming to church. WOW!! I don't blame them for not coming, can't tell you why but trust me it was okay. That was the start of my refocus to stop stressing about the small stuff with my kids.

At church today I chatted with someone who has a hard life and doesn't make the best of decisions. Another refocus on what is important to life and we (not always) bring on our own trials. *** I would stop getting headaches if I stopped yelling at my kids** :) j/k a little bit...

After church I ask someone else a question that pertains to her life and she started to look stressed, then proceeded to tell me about what medically has been going on in her life. She found out she's allergic to milk and it has caused a lot of other issues that she didn't know the cause behind. Wow, milk! I'm counting my blessings to not have major allergies like that.

So after my day it put getting my kids dressed for church not such a big deal. I'm grateful for my 'boring' life. I know it won't always be that way. We've been very blessed!

Oh, one more, the lesson in Relief Society was about the Atonement from the May 09 Ensign. That is always a refocus point in my life.

WHAT EVER YOUR TRIALS BE GRATEFUL YOU DONT HAVE SOMEONE ELSE'S!

Red Box Movies

I was a big fan when first introduced to Red Box movies. I'm not as big a fan anymore. We rented a movie in August that I know I returned and randomly in Sept was charged 25.98. WHAT!!! I contacted their customer service asking about the charge. They told me what movie I 'didn't return'. I have no proof. They charged me the 1.08 the next day when I returned the movie so I thought everything was okay. After I return a movie and the charge clears I delete all emails relating to the movie. It really frustrates me that there is nothing I can really do about it. I have emailed them several times and they don't show it returned so I'm out the money!

I don't think I will be renting from Red Box anymore I have started going back to the library for my cheap movies, FREE! I had the radio on and a song came on. I don't know what it was called I don't think I had heard it before but a post 9/11 song. You know what I mean.... Lance asked me, "What are they singing about."

1) Anyone who does not believe music effects you... YA RIGHT! Hello, my 3 year old is listening!
2)For those of that don't know Lance, he continually amazes me with what comes out of his mouth. He asks a lot of questions others don't ask so we give him lots of explanations that others typically wouldn't give.

So I think for a minute how to start and begin to tell him about 2 tall buildings, and 2 bad men that took over 2 airplanes and crashed them into the buildings. I remember very well where I was that day. I remember that one day better and more of it than a lot of other days in my life. For the next couple years as I'm sure many of you agree the feelings start to fade. I didn't cry when I thought about it 3-4 years later as I did when it happened. I wasn't as shocked about the magnitude of everything. Just as I started to tell Lance that the planes hit the buildings and that lots of people died I became so choked up. I started to cry a little. I had to pause to get the words out. For some reason those emotions all came back. Maybe because I almost missed what the date was! It the same as older generations who remember Pearl Harbor or any number of other tragedies. Lance listened very intently, asked why I was crying and wanted to know some more. At this point I'm sitting in the parking lot of Target trying to dry my eyes so we can so inside and shop.

We never truly understand why things happen, but it's comforting to believe and know that there is a greater purpose to life and He understands it ALL.

TTTS Syndrome - spreading awareness

If you know anyone pregnant with twins find out if they are fraternal, or identical, and if they have 2 placentas.

I am part of a group of Mothers of Multiples here in Amarillo and this evening we had someone come talk to us about Twin-to-Twin Transfusion. Even after having twins, I had never heard of this. The very very short of it, is when all the blood is going to one baby. It can only happen in identical twins with one placenta. It is rare, but if you don't know about it both babies can die. The only way a mother can know is uncommon fast growth even for having multiples. Doctors can see it in ultrasounds, but they have to know what it is. The lady who spoke with us this evening is trying to raise awareness. I was shocked, having never heard of it. Being a mother of twins I also wanted to help spread the awareness. So, as said before: If you know anyone pregnant with twins find out if they are fraternal, or identical, and if they have 2 placentas. If there is only one placenta they are a high risk pregnancy and need to be seen by a high risk doctor!

Stranger at Walmart

I don't like to shop at walmart but I went their today instead of my normal grocery store for the 'everything in one place' shop. I needed a few things for the kids too. I wasn't there very long before remembering that the isles are crowded unless you go around 9:00 in the morning. I picked up my groceries, diapers and a few extra items then went to check out.
I picked the closest, shortest lane to where I was and it happened to be the smokes and tobacco lane. The lady in front of my was almost done. When writing her check she asked if she could write it out for 20.00 over and get cash. Of course she can, but the clerk forgot and entered that the check was for the exact amount of the groceries. Well they can't just hand her 20.00 that will put the till off, and I guess she couldn't write a new check because they already scanned that one. (about this time another guy is waiting behind me in line) The clerk and another clerk that was already helping weren't sure what to do, so they call someone else over. It was determined that they had to void the transaction and rering her stuff up. She had 2 carts full of stuff!! One clerk says, 'can I type in her receipt at the next register' (They have two registers running the smokes isle.) That would be great! She starts to type in the stuff and the other clerk begins to void the transaction. It WONT void.... she has also purchased a gift card on the receipt. Enter clerk number 4 - try to refund the amount. It WONT, something about the gift card has already been tended. I didn't understand that part it was as if she had already purchased something with it, but she just bought it???
Anyway, at this point I realize 4 clerks don't know how to fix the problem... time to move.
I reload all my items (it really wasn't that much) into my cart and move. Well I moved one lane over just as the guy in behind me did, so now I am behind him. He offered for me to go in front but I declined his offer seens how he only had 3 items. (This guy was a little upset he wanted to buy some 'snuff' but couldn't. You can buy beer in any lane but smokes and snuff only in one, and now both registers in that lane are tied up) So he proceeds to check out while I unload my cart again. (Just for the record I was not irritated at all, just paitently waited. All 3 kids were home with dad, otherwise I might have been frustrated.)
So it's my turn to check out. The clerk says your total is 61.41 (something like that), then takes 10.05 cents and credits my total then says your total is 51.36. ????????? I'm sure I looked really confused. My thought was 'did you just buy something and my ticket and are now are paying for it with your own 10.00'?????? She looked at me and said "The guy in front of you asked to give you his change" WOW I didn't see that one coming! I hear of stuff like that happening, but not to me. As I was walking out of the store he happened to drive by me in his car. He called out the window, "did she give you the change" It took a second to realize he was talking to me, but when I looked it was him. I told him Thanks I appreciate it. He told me, "Your welcome, have a blessed day," and drove away. I literly started to get teary eyed. (I am an emotional mother of 3 with little sleep and hormones :) )

So Walmart is not always so bad it the people who shop there that can be frustrating or as today showed me a blessing. SO, THANKS TO THE STRANGER AT WALMART!

He didn't know this but I was trying to watch my pennies while I was there until we get pd on Wednesday.

As I drove home I also remembered that someone at Walmart returned my wallet about a month ago. I left it in the shopping cart in the parking lot at about 9:30 at night! Nothing was gone. SO, THANKS FOR KIND PEOPLE WHO CARE!

Zucchini

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; We went to a matinee though so the theater wasn't full at all. They both sat for the first hour and watched the movie with their glasses on. I've been meaning to write but life keeps moving around me.

We were able to take a road trip in June. I loaded up the kids, drove 10 hours one way, and stayed 2 1/2 weeks at my sisters house in Kansas. I was hesitant for the drive with the little ones. For those who don't know what I drive.... all three kids sit on the back row in a mini van with the middle seats folded down, so it's not like I can just reach back to help them. Anyway, with the help of another sister that lives close (we borrowed her DVD player), a few new dollar store toys, and a box of snacks we headed out. The kids traveled great!! We had lots of fun. We went bowling, swimming, played at the play ground, took a trip to Liberty Jail, Independence MI, Far West, Haun's Mill (don't go there, there is NOTHING TO SEE), Adam-ondi-aham, (DO go there, there still isn't a lot to see, but it was great to look out across this beatiful land and feel the spirit), we spent a day at a Children's Museum too. I also got to meet a friend of my sister's who is a professional photographer. I've recently been getting back into the business of taking pictures and she let us use her studio at her house! It was hard with 7 chilren around, but I did learn lots and enjoyed some books she let me borrow. Thanks Merry! I enjoyed visiting with her too. Another great place to go if your in the neighorhood is the Deanna Rose Farm. It was free to get in but cost money if you wanted to do things like feed the baby goats milk, ride a horse, eat ice cream. Those are all things we did :) It's a great farm to see some animals walk through flowers and gardens, see cows up close, play at a play ground, and they have more things they are building.

It was a good break for me. And even then Jacob spent 2 of those in the hospital. Basically they slept in the same bed for the 1st 2 weeks of their life!! So do to some travel (yes the Utah trip) I had two cribs in Utah but we stayed in Las Vegas on the way home and I only had one. (I borrowed my sisters in Utah so I only had to pack one)

The first night in Vegas Jonathan spent most the night in my bed, but the second night was the best night's sleep I had in a loooooong time! All three kids slept all night long!!!! Since I came home I had to go on another trip for a few days so my thoughts were to keep them together so I only had to pack one crib again. Since we've been home if I put Jonathan in a separate crib he cries. I can put him straight from his own crib to Jacob's and they both go to sleep. Lately I find them sharing one pillow, but this was to cute to miss!!

They don't take naps together though, that turns into play time. Yep the whole month! It was great to see a lot of friends, laugh lots, and not do my own chores around the house. I helped my sisters kids do theirs. One of the weeks we were there all of my kids had ear infections!! Other wise, the weather was great and my sister has a great rock wall in her backyard that was covered in snow and made a perfect place to sled!! Seeing all my friends again made it tempting to move to Utah and those who know me really well know that the word Utah is not in my vocab. unless talking about David :)

When my sister lived here in Amarillo she started quilting. Well I thought, I know how to sew why not. So I decided if I found a pattern that really jumped at my I would make it. I was pregnant with the twins when I started this little project, and as you will see from the picture there were lots of pieces to cut!!! Well towards the end of my pregnancy I couldn't stand to lean over the table anymore and cut. (Yes my belly was to BIG) Since I started the project with the my sister I decided the one thing I wanted to do while I was back with my sister was finish this project. I took my machine and a box FULL of pieces to her house. I had some of the squares sewn but some still needed cutting. Anyway...... It's done..... well the top is done, which was my goal. My sister was a HUGE help at the end, it was getting close for me to come home and I wasn't done yet. I've sewn things but this was a project, my thought when I saw it was "cool, it's all straight lines but it looks like it waves" Yea, not as easy as I thought!! But I love the quilt. I wasn't so sure at first but the more I look at it the more I like it. ENJOY!!

It's called
STORM AT SEA

New Year

So I haven't posted anything in awhile. I haven't really been sure what to post about, and even when I think of something by the time I get to the computer I can't remember. I've been wanting to write a meaning full post but wasn't sure how to begin until today. I wanted to post this before the feeling and thoughts are gone.....

When it's late and quiet is when I do my best thinking (sometimes when it's early and quiet if I happen to get out of bed before my children) Well it's late this evening and everyone is asleep. I've been staying at my sisters house, so 'everyone' includes more than my kids. I started working on a project I've had going when I decided to sit and read a book my sister just got for me. It's called 'Reflections of Christ.' It's a coffee-table book that has still photos that someone has put together reflecting Christs life. Not paintings, but photos! It's not even really about the pictures although they are good. Some of them I really love! But it's more about the stories behind the pictures when you read the preface and artist notes. The point of my story....

I don't like to read about the Atonement. I don't like to look at pictures of the Atonement. Any of you who know me well know I'm a crier, and even though I'd like to think I don't cry as much as I used to I still cry a lot. Talking of the Atonement makes me cry. (Yes I have tears in my eyes as I'm writing this :)

When David and I started this blog the intent was to be able to share our testimony. We listened to one of the General Authorities talk about the power of the internet. Well.... we have yet to share our testimonies and I don't know how to do all the fancy links (and it's low priority on the list of things to do). I wanted the testimony I posted to be more than a standard verse but to have meaning and feeling to what someone else would read.

This post isn't about my testimony but going back to the Atonement comment. I've decided this is my year. My year to study the Atonement. Having owned a bookstore in the past (this may come as a shock to some..... :) but there were lots of books in the store I wanted to read but never did. Some of them we kept when we closed the store and I still haven't read them. I want to read them this year - Believing Christ - The Peace Giver - Following Christ - The Atonement - and some others. I also want to study the Atonement in the scriptures. I know the Atonement is real. It's a big part of my beliefs. I know how it has worked in my life. I know the power behind what my Savior has done for me, but my goal this year is to gain a greater knowledge and understanding of it. To increase my faith and testimony through study and prayer of the Atonement in particular. In Relief Society the theme this year is, 'To be a Covenant Woman. ' I know that combined with keeping my covenants and studying the Atonement and can learn so much more. Things that I admire when listening to others. Things that can become more real in my own life and I can teach to my children. I know personally that the Savior knows each of us individually. I feel His love often. He answers my prayers. He brings me comfort when I'm weary and strength when I'm weak, but I have to remember to turn to Him for help. Through out the year I will try to post other things that come up that mean something to me.

A slightly different subject - I had a chance today to take Lance and go to the Draper Temple Open House. Lance will be 3 in 2 months, but I know the typical response is he is to young to remember. I don't know how much of the experience he will remember, but he already talks about "getting bigger and going to the temple with mom and dad" He will tell you that we don't drink alcohol, coffee, tea, smoke or take drugs. :) This I do know - His spirit knows. He was excited to go the the temple, because mom and dad go and we talk about it. He watched the introduction movie very still and very quite. While in the temple I could tell him a few things and he would very calmly say 'oh' I don't think he'll remember what he sees inside. I do think he'll remember how it feels inside. He said 'Can this be my house too?" I love little kids! If you ask him he liked the bus ride (it was a first) and we got water and cookies at the temple (in the church bldg after the tour of the temple). I wanted to share a picture from today so that's the story that goes with it.

Merry Christmas

Christmas at our house this year was fun as it should be ;) This is a little of our morning! (some of those trains we already had but set up with the new stuff.)

We like to do Santa gifts, then have breakfast, then open the rest. Well between breakfast and opening gifts - David spilled a half gallon of milk on the floor (some of it went under the fridge), I tried to fit a 10 lb sack of flour into a container that apparently only holds say 8 - fortunately I was doing this project in the sink. I dropped an egg on the floor, David spilled Turkey (juice or whatever you want to call it) on the floor, and Jonathan dumped a box of Reese's Pieces all over the floor Twice! David was ready to call it a day! Oh yea and we didn't put the Turkey in the fridge early enough so it was still frozen. (It did turn out really good though in the end)

The rest of the day went well, the kids had fun and you would have thought all the toys were for Lance the way he was hoarding them. So David's niece had this dinosaur that she wanted to give to Lance but she didn't know how to wrap it, so she wrapped the controller for it. David wanted to put it out Christmas morning so Lance could see it when he woke up......

Now doesn't that just say "Merry Christmas"

So we waited until he opened the controller to pull him out, not knowing what the kids would think of it. Lance was a little hesitant then said the dinosaur can get the bad guys. Well it just so happens the his new train came with a bad guy. So he ran to get him and threw him at the floor in front of the dinosaur. Jonathan walked right up to the dinosaur and would poke it then walk away. That went on for a little while. Jacob wasn't so sure of it though. He sat in David's lap and watched everything else take place. After opening some other things I realized Jacob was being really quiet

This is where he sat until I realized the dinosaur was between him and the rest of the family. For some mothers, they aren't so excited for that day when the child walks because next is the running away. I'm excited to stop carrying around 22 extra lbs while chasing a 1 yr old and 2 yr old. He doesn't walk everywhere yet but he is starting to walk across the room. I don't think it will take him long to master it. He is going slow and trying to keep his balance. It might be time to buy some 'leashes' aka safety harness.

The result

I don't make a big deal usually about how I feel about things, but today I am........I think it's great that America can have a black for Pres. Jonathan is wanting to but not quite. He has taken some steps by himself though. Jonathan mastered climbing months ago though where Jacob just figured it out at Grandma's house last weekend. Looking back it's amazing I made it though some days. I really am grateful that I've had family so close though. My sisters have helped out tremendously! Also the members of the ward help out lots at church on Sunday's.

Our friend Jessica brought the boys some presents and got Lance some bubbles. Jacob was most interested in the bubbles and mad every time they got put away.

Halloween

David and I aren't really into Halloween, but we got the kids dressed up and went to the Ward Activity. It was fun to watch the kids all dressed up. Lance's Uncle Josh got him the BDU's they are a size 2 and still rolled up twice. ( you should see how much we had to tie around his waist, I think Jacob could have fit too) We taught Lance to take his hat off so people could put candy in it. Jacob was the cutest 'little devil' as he would walk around his tail would wiggle. Since we were running late we tried to get a picture of all three together at the end of the night. For awhile I had three sisters within 10 min. of my house, now I have one. It's been a little of an adjustment. There are fewer places to just "show up." I never thought I would enjoy living as close to family as I have over the past year. So over the past week I've been finding other things to do. We went to the library for story time last week. There was a grp of home schooled kids who were dressed up as people in history and each stood and told a brief story of their lives - Benjamin Franklin, Wilbur Wright, Helen Keller, John Smith, JFK, and a few others. I really enjoyed it, and the kids sat through it pretty well. It's almost midnight, everyone is sleeping and I was up working on other things. Can't you tell I'm being productive.

Our month was a busy one, we went to SLC Utah to see David's brother get married. We got into town on Thursday night. Friday and Saturday was wedding stuff all day. Sunday morning David flew out for work mtgs in Florida. I don't care for Utah and now I was there all ALONE (with my 3 kids that is). It was fun though I saw several friends I hadn't seen in years some of them I met in Georgia, and my best friend of 20 years. That makes me feel old. Anyway. I also have a sister that moved to the area the week before so I was able to see her new home etc.. The next Friday I drove to Las Vegas NV with the kids and David flew back into Vegas where we attended some Quixtar/Amway mtgs. That was a good weekend, I like to go to Vegas. Sunday we left and headed back home. I must say for as many places as we stayed over the 2 weeks and as much driving as we did the kids did well.
